Description
When I first got into stone cutting and polishing I purchased a collection. In that collection was this slab this cabochon was cut from. Both sides of the slab were this blue/white color and it was obviously petrified wood. Once i\I discovered its location through research. I decided to cut it and leave the back side as it were when it was a slab. As you can see its a Black wood color, with a blue back. This is natural due to the stone being porous and the slab being extremely old. It was probably collecting originally in the 50’s or earlier.
Visit my Sold cabochon Gallery to see past opals I have cut. You will find other examples of materials, shapes, sizes, colors, and in general see my work there. Some stones date back over 15 years in there. I don’t show everything I cut, just the ones I really liked over the years. Please let me know if you have any questions about those materials.
Its also important to visit your local rockclub if you have one near by. Its a great place to start if you are new to gems and minerals. Thank you.
