Fordite Cabcohon

By now most people have heard of Fordite right? If you haven’t it is basically dried paint from automobile factories. However over several years a lot of ‘new” fordite has come to the market because it can be readily available from anyone who has a paint booth and paints cars. But some of the original stuff can actually have history and be very old. This is one of those pieces as it came from my overstock collection that predated 1974 in Boise Idaho. It was a random piece I found mixed into dirt with a kinds of Idaho rocks. As you can see the color and pattern is pretty wild. Notice the silver blue color. That is a unique color to real Fordite. This cabochon has shield cut top, and a reverse cut shield back.
